The Dad Braids app

Four years ago I had no idea what I was doing.
Now there's a million of us.

Crooked parts, lopsided ponytails, the whole thing. But she smiled anyway, so I kept going. Eventually I got decent and started sharing it online. So now I'm building the thing I wish I'd had on day one.

I'm in

Nobody teaches the beginning.

When I started, every tutorial I found was a mom.

Going fast. Sped up on top of that. Hands that already knew what they were doing.

Nobody doing it in real time. Nobody saying "okay, now grab this piece, no, that one." Nobody teaching it to someone who's never touched long hair before.

So for the last two years I've been sharing it myself. Everything I've figured out, and everything I'm still struggling through.

Turns out I wasn't alone. Different countries, same 7am struggles.

Ten minutes.

But here's the thing nobody tells you.

Some mornings she sees the finished braid and lights up.

That excitement turns into confidence.

Confidence turns into belief.

Belief turns into identity.

And identity is how she walks into a room for the rest of her life.

It's 10 minutes. And it's more than just hair.

One place for all of it.

So we're building an app. Everything I know, in order, finally findable at 7:04am. We've already started, and we're aiming to have it in your hands before the holidays.

Playlists, not homework

Grouped by the morning you're having. Back to school, picture day, game day. Pick one and go.

Real time, real speed

No sped-up hands. The whole thing, start to finish, talked through like you've never done it before.

Made to do together

Finding today's style is the fun part. The two of you searching until you both go: that one.

Every hair type

Straight to coily. I'm bringing in pro stylists to teach what I can't teach alone.

Get on the list.

Name and email, that's it.

Then, if you're up for it, tell me what's hard right now. That's what I'm building from.

Much love, Strider

How this works

01

You tell me

What's hard, and what would actually help.

02

I listen

I read every answer and look for what keeps coming up.

03

You test it

Beta testers try it with her and tell me the truth.

04

You're first in

Everyone on the list hears the moment it's ready.

Questions

Is it just for dads?

Nope. It's for a girl and whoever does her hair: dads, moms, grandparents, aunts, uncles, guardians. Dad Braids is the name. Everyone's welcome.

When does it launch?

We've already started, and we're aiming to have it in your hands before the holidays. Get on the list and you'll be the first to know.

Will it cost anything?

Yes, it'll be a paid membership. That's what lets us keep making great tutorials, bring in expert stylists for every hair type, and keep it ad-free for you and her. We're working out the details now, and everyone on the list will hear them first.

I bought the Scrunchie Course. What happens to it?

First, thank you. You were here at the very beginning. You'll keep access to everything you paid for, and I'm working on the best way to bring you into the app. I'll reach out directly before launch.

Can I help test it?

Yes! Tick the beta tester box in the form and I'll reach out when it's ready to try with her.

Let's build it together.

Name and email. That's all it takes to be first in line.
